Bishop Henry R. Williams, D.D., Ph.D. Biographical Sketch

Bishop Dr. Henry R. Williams began his public ministry, November 12, 1978, under his father's pastorate, the late Bishop Preston C. Williams, Sr. He is the last of six siblings raised in the small, rural township of Saint Mary’s, Georgia. Being a PK (preacher’s kid) afforded him an amazing opportunity to travel across the country with his father in ministry. Church life has been the catalyst that has taught him invaluable lessons on how to serve better and shepherding God’s people.

He’s known for his prolific bible teaching and preaching that has transformed the lives of countless people throughout his ministry. The colloquial phrase, “Your life will never be the same after hearing this life-changing Word of Faith,” is coined by those whose lives have been touched by his ministry. He has a deep passion for conveying the Word of God with simplicity. So, as a result, “out of all our getting, we get an understanding.”

Dr. Williams holds several earned degrees, including an A.A. in Business Administration, B.S. in Biblical Studies, M.A. in Theological Studies, and a recipient of an honorary Doctorate of Divinity. He studied executive leadership, strategic development, and Business management at Howard University School of Business and earned a doctorate in Organizational Leadership and Management. He has been honored with numerous awards to credit his outstanding leadership among local, national, and international organizations.

He and his wife, Co-Pastor Dr. Gwendolyn L. Williams, are the founders of Word of Oasis Church, International. They began their Pastoral Ministry in October of 1981 in Dillon, South Carolina. Bishop Williams has birth thirty-two churches in Sierra Leone, West Africa, under Overseer Pastor Dandison Coker. Word of Oasis International headquarters is housed in a 250,000 square foot office complex and training school in the capital city of Freetown. He’s consecrated and serves within the Sacred Office of Bishop under the ICCC (International Communion of Charismatic Churches). They are the proud parents of three adult children: Aaron, Rashonda, and Shakira.
