Pastor Gwendolyn L. Williams, D.D. Biographical Sketch


Pastor Gwen is a native of Brooklyn, New York. Her parents, the late Elder George and Betty Hudson raised her in church. She traveled with her father who was one of the lead singers in the renowned gospel quartet group, "The Singing-Aires." She acquired her passion for singing from her father who consistently encouraged her to use her gift to sing gospel music to lift the Name of Jesus. As a young girl, she along with a few close friends had the distinct honor of performing on the stage of the world famous "Apollo Theater" in Harlem, New York.


She received her education in the public school system of Brooklyn graduating from her alumni, Franklyn K. Lane. She moved south to Fernandina Beach, Florida as a result of a distinct, directive, mandate upon her life in pursuit of her purpose. It was there she met and married her husband, Bishop Henry R. Williams, September 5, 1981.


Both she and her husband left lucrative careers in banking to follow the leading of the Lord to pursue full-time ministry in 1986. Pastor Gwen serves beside her husband in pastoral ministry as co-founder of Word of Oasis Church, Inc.


She is the President and founder of Virtuous Women of Excellence Fellowship (VWOE). This ministry also has a branch of young ladies called "Daughters of Destiny" that minister to young girls ages 4 – 18. These ministries are the catalyst to empower women and young women to become the virtuous daughters that God has destined them to be through teaching sessions, seminars, conferences, and monthly fellowships.


Victorious Woman is a magazine which Pastor Gwen serves as the publisher. This widely distributed publication serves and speaks into issues surrounding women, as well as, young women to aid in catapulting them into their destiny.


Pastor Gwen has received numerous awards and accolades which include: 1997 Outstanding Young Women of America, 3rd Annual Shapers Entertainment Music Awards 2001 Women of Standard and the 2002 National Register's Who's Who in Executives and professionals. She has matriculated undergraduate studies in Physical Therapy and the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity.


She’s not only a prolific bible preacher/exhorter/ wife/helpmeet, but she and her husband are the proud parents of three adult children: Aaron, Rashonda, and Shakira.
